2009 Brady Academic All-Stars

The Class of 2009 Academic All-Stars and Excellence Awards recipients were honored this past April. The events included a reception, program and award-presentation ceremony.

Alexander Hamilton High School

John Zielinski
John Zielinski has a cumulative grade point average of 3.87 on a 4.0 scale and ranks sixth in his graduating class. He is a member of the National Honor Society. John is a member of the school Senior Board, Student Life Organization. He also is involved with his school’s on-line news website. John won first place at the State DECA competition and has qualified for internationals. John’s community involvement includes volunteering for the Milwaukee Holiday Parade and the Milwaukee Discovery Run. In sports, he was cross country varsity captain in 2007-2008. He competed in football, basketball and varsity tennis. John is interested in a career in business accounting. He is the son Sharon Zielinski of Milwaukee, Wis.


Arrowhead High School

Katie Beres
Katie Beres has a cumulative grade point average of 3.90 on a 4.0 scale and is in the top 10 percent of her senior class. Katie is a member of the National Honor Society. She received the school Student Achiever Award and Academic Achievement Award for her school. Katie is a member of the Student Senate, Principals Cabinet and Best Buddies. She volunteers through the National Honor Society. Her community involvement includes Positively Pewaukee, a non-profit organization that assists the elderly and she was involved in the MS Bike Tour. In sports Katie competed in Volleyball and Basketball for four years and was the team captain for two years. She competed in Lacrosse for three years. She is interested in a career in business. Katie is the daughter of Jill and Gary Beres of Pewaukee, Wis.

Jeffrey Mahlum
Jeffrey Mahlum has a perfect 4.0 grade point average and ranks first in his graduating class. Jeffrey is the National Honor Society President and a member of the Spanish Honor Society at his school. He has received the Journal Sentinel Student Achiever Award numerous times. Jeffrey volunteers at Oconomowoc Hospital, Habitat for Humanity and several community soup kitchens. In sports Jeffery competed in Soccer, Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, and Ping-Pong. He plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison, to pursue a career in Medicine. His parents are Julie and Craig Mahlum of Hartland, Wis.


Bay View High School

English Ruffin
English Ruffin has a cumulative grade point average of 3.6 on a 4.0 scale and ranks in the top ten percent of her graduating class. She is a member of the National Honor Society. English received the Athletic Scholastic Award and the Commissioner’s Scholar Athlete Award. In her community English volunteered for Clean-Up Day, Hope House Neighborhood and the National Honor Society Food Drive. In sports, she was team captain of her basketball team for four years, softball for three years and volleyball for two years. English was voted Homecoming Queen in 2008 and is a member of the homecoming committee at her school. English plans to attend the University of Dubuque. She is interested in a career in Psychology. She is the daughter of Denise Townsend of Milwaukee, Wis.


Bradley Trade & Technical High School

Veronica Holmes
Veronica Holmes has a cumulative grade point average of 3.94 on a 4.0 scale and ranks first in her graduating class. Veronica is a member of the National Honor Society. She is a member of her school Student Government and is the Chairman of Academic Affairs. In sports, Veronica was the Volleyball Team Captain for four years and Co-Captain of the Softball team for four years. Veronica volunteered at Bradley Trade & Technical High School’s open house and parent-teacher conference. She also volunteers at community fundraisers. Veronica plans to attend UW-Milwaukee and is interested in a career in Medicine. Her parents are Lisa and Charlie Holmes of Milwaukee, Wis.

Deonte Wilson
Deonte Wilson has a cumulative grade point average of 3.54 on a 4.0 scale and ranks in the top ten percent of his graduating class. He is a member of the National Honor Society and Student Government. Deonte worked as a volunteer for the Shrine Circus and has volunteered over 100 hours of community service to St. Mark’s Church. In sports, he competed in cross country, swimming and track. Deonte plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is interested in a career in computer/electrical engineering. Deonte is the son of Debra Perteet and Jerry Wilson of Milwaukee, Wis.


Brookfield Academy

Natalie Ruth Marks
Natalie Ruth Marks has a cumulative grade point average of 98.9 on a 100.0 scale. She was awarded First In-Class Math Subject Award, National French Exam First in State and National Latin Exam Summa Cum Laude. Natalie is a National Merit Finalist. Natalie is a member of her school’s French Club. In sports she competed in swimming for four years. Natalie has performed in the productions of “The Glass Menagerie,” “The Sound of Music” and “I Do! I Do!” Natalie plans to attend Stanford University. She is interested in a career in medicine and language. Natalie is the daughter of Donna and David Marks of Brookfield, Wis.

William Reavis
William Reavis has a cumulative grade point average of 94.2 on a 100.0 scale. He is a one-time Scholar Athlete award winner and has been on Academic Honor Roll four years in a row. William is a member of the Economic Club and is the president of his school’s Math Club. In sports, William was voted MVP for two years in Soccer. William competes in Varsity Track and Varsity Basketball. He is interested in a career in Investment Banking or Medicine. He is the son of Alison and Robert Reavis of Miami, Oklahoma.


Brookfield Central High School

John Korsin
John Korsin has a cumulative grade point average of 4.16 on a 4.0 scale and ranks in the top ten percent of his graduating class. He is a member of the National Honor Society and was named a Wisconsin Leader of Tomorrow. He is President of the Junior Statesmen of America Club. John has been Class President for four consecutive years. He volunteers as a Camp Counselor for the YMCA Camp Minikani. In his community he volunteers at the Brookfield Library and is a Sunday School Teacher at his church. In sports John was named Honorable Team Captain of the Football Team and he competes in Swimming, and Track and Field. John plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is interested in a career in economics and business. John is the son of Maggie and Robert Korslin of Brookfield, Wis.

Katie Peterson
Katie Peterson has a cumulative grade point average of 4.15 on a 4.0 scale and ranks in the top ten percent of her graduating class. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Katie participates in her Class Council, Key Club, Student Council, Wisconsin Leader of Tomorrow and Italian Club. She is active in her community and is part of Teen Health Crew, a youth group that volunteers at the Children’s Health Education Center. In sports, she competed in basketball, cross country and track and was nominated the Greater Metro Conference Athlete of the Year in 2008. Katie plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is interested in a career in medicine. Katie is the daughter of Susan and James Peterson of Brookfield, Wis.


Brookfield East High School

Megan Farley
Megan Farley has a cumulative grade point average of 4.17 on a 4.2 scale and ranks in the top five percent of her graduating class. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and a four-year honor roll student. In the community, Megan volunteered with the Special Olympics, Waukesha Food Pantry, Dominic Parish and she served the homeless lunch at Loaves & Fishes at St. Ben’s. In sports, Megan competes in volleyball, soccer and basketball. She received the Best All-Around Player of the Year Award in Basketball. She plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her career interest is in international business. Megan’s parents are Chris and Dave Farley of Brookfield, Wis.

Andrew Glaudell
Andrew Glaudell has a cumulative grade point average of 4.19 on a 4.2 scale and ranks in the top five percent of his graduating class. He was awarded Student of the Year in chemistry and calculus. Andrew is a member of the National Honor Society and is a Life Scout working towards his Eagle Badge. In his community Andrew has volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul collection site, filled food bags for the poor and helped paint a church. In sports, he was named the Most Improved Senior, Scholar Athlete and Honorable Mention All-Conference in football. He competes in weight-lifting and qualified for the state power-lifting competition. Andrew is a musician and is a member of his schools Symphonic Band. He plays the bass clarinet and qualified for state solo and ensemble with the Woodwind Choir. He plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His career interests are engineering, physics and math. Andrew is the son of Linda and Kenneth Glaudell of Brookfield, Wis.


Brown Deer High School

David Kuczynski
David Kuczynski has a cumulative grade point average of 4.147 on a 4.33 scale and ranks in the top 10 percent of his graduating class. He is a member of the National Honor Society and has been chosen as the student of the month four times. In the community, David volunteers at the Brown Deer recreation center as a children’s track instructor and he is active in his church. In sports, he competed in baseball, basketball and track. David broke the Wisconsin State record in the 4x100 track relay race and placed first in the state track meet. David earned varsity letters in sports. He plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He is interested in the field of accounting. David is the son of Penny and James Kuczynski of Brown Deer, Wis.

Sydney Nelson
Sydney Nelson has a cumulative grade point average of 4.05 on a 4.33 scale and ranks in the top 10 percent of her graduating class. She is a Secretary of the National Honor Society, Student Leadership Team and a member of the Student Activities Council at her school. Sydney was named student of the month on four occasions. Sydney has been named scholar athlete, MVP and Rookie of the Year. She earned her varsity letters and competed in volleyball, basketball and track. She plans to attend Illinois Wesleyan University and pursue a career in accounting. Sydney’s parents are Alisa and Don Nelson of Brown Deer, Wis.


Calvary Baptist School

Margaret Freitag
Margaret Freitag has a cumulative grade point average of 3.80 on a 4.0 scale and ranks third in her graduating class. She is a member of the National Honor Society, American Christian Honor Society and was named “Commended Student” in the National Merit Scholarship Competition. Margaret participates in the Drama Club and was Class Vice President for two years. In her community, she has volunteered at several community blood drives and participated in the Annual American Cancer Society Walk for Life. Margaret is part of a team of seniors that will visit China, teach English and help with earthquake recovery in the Sichuan Province. In sports, she competed on the volleyball team and as a member of the bowling club. Margaret has applied to several universities. She is interested in a career in science, accounting or statistics. Margaret is the daughter of Clare and Daniel Freitag of Menomonee Falls, Wis.

John Olsan
John Olsan has a cumulative grade point average of 3.89 on a 4.0 scale and ranks second in his graduating class. He is a member of both the National Honor Society and the American Christian Honor Society. John is the Yearbook Editor and he served as the class Vice President in his junior year. At school, he tutors and is a teacher’s aide in the elementary school. John is part of a team of seniors that will visit China, teach English and help with earthquake recovery in Sichuan Province. In sports, John competes in soccer, basketball and is part of the golf team. He earned the “Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship” Award. John plans to attend UW-Madison. He is interested in a career in engineering. John is the son of Linda and Alan Olsan of Richfield, Wis.


Catholic Memorial High School

Tyler Cobb
Tyler Cobb has a cumulative grade point average of 4.36 on a 4.0 scale and ranks in the top ten percent of his graduating class. He is a member of the National Honor Society and Catholic Memorial’s National Honor Society. Tyler participated in a 14-day service learning trip to Panama and volunteered at the medical clinic. He also participated in Operation Michael, a homelessness awareness project at Catholic Memorial High School. Tyler is a musician and plays both the piano and the clarinet. In sports, Tyler competes in volleyball and was named All-Conference in his sophomore and junior years and co-captain in his senior year. He is interested in a career in elementary education. Tyler is the son of Susan and Brian Cobb of Brookfield, Wis.

Kristin Ruekert
Kristin Ruekert has a cumulative grade point average of 4.46 on a 4.0 scale. She is a member the National Honor Society. Kristin is Student Council Vice President. She is part of a select group of “Student Ambassadors” who travel to area grade schools speaking about Catholic Memorial. In sports, Kristin competed in varsity basketball and soccer. She was named captain of her soccer team. She plans to attend UW-Madison, and is interested in a career in medicine. Kristin is the daughter of Irene and Fredrick Ruekert of Waukesha, Wis.


Cedarburg High School

James Akkala
James Akola has a cumulative grade point average of 4.26 on a 4.0 scale and ranks in the top five percent of his graduating class. He is a member of the National Honor Society. John’s advanced placement scores have earned him an AP Scholar Award. He has organized the first dance marathon to benefit St. Jude’s Research Hospital. In sports, James competes in year-round swimming and he qualified for state in his junior year. John is also the lifeguard for girls swimming. James plans to attend Iowa University. He is interested in a career as an engineer and would like to someday become a published author. James is the son of Christine and Mark Akkala of Cedarburg, Wis.

Courtney Martin
Courtney Martin has a cumulative grade point average of 4.35 on a 4.0 scale and ranks in the top five percent of her graduating class. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Courtney was on the High Honor Roll for four years, and is a three time recipient of the “Bradley Foundation Student Achiever Award. In the community, Courtney volunteers as a tutor, a basketball/volleyball camp coach and is a basketball scorekeeper for the Cedarburg Recreational Department. In sports, she competed in basketball two years, softball three years and volleyball two years. Courtney received and accepted a nomination to the United States Navel Academy from Senator Russ Feingold and Congressman Sensenbrenner. She is interested in a career in political science and pre-law. Courtney is the daughter of Cynthia and Joseph Martin of Grafton, Wis.


Cudahy High School

Emily Casey
Emily Casey has a cumulative grade point average of 4.35 on a 4.0 scale and ranks in the top five percent of her graduating class. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club and is Secretary of the Student Council. Emily was awarded the Renaissance Award for Academic Achievement and earned a savings bond for her Academic Excellence. Emily volunteers as a coach for grade school volleyball, tutors second-grade math and is a school student office aide. In sports, Emily competed in volleyball and track and field. Her career interests include science, psychology or veterinary medicine. Emily is the daughter of Joan and James Casey of Milwaukee, Wis.

Luke Demos
Luke Demos has a cumulative grade point average of 4.57 on a 4.0 scale and ranks third in his graduating class. He is a member of the National Honor Society and also serves as the treasurer. Luke is a member of the school Math Team and part of the All Kids Achieving Leadership Group. In the community, Luke has volunteered at the St. Roman Parish and St. Luke’s Hospital Medical Center. In sports, he competed in football, basketball and golf. Luke plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is interested in a career in sports medicine or pharmacy. Luke is the son of Ellen and Mark Demos of Cudahy, Wis.


Custer High School

Yanira Santos
Yanira Santos has a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and ranks in the top five percent of her graduating class. She has been an honor roll student for four years. Yanira volunteers at the neighborhood Boys and Girls Club as a tutor. She is a musician and member of the school band where she plays the bass drum. In sports, Yanira competed in softball for two years. She plans to attend the University of Colorado Springs. Her career interest is in nursing. Yanira is the daughter of Milagos and Jorge Santos of Milwaukee, Wis.


Divine Savior Holy Angels High School

Emily Callan
Emily Callan has a cumulative grade point average of 3.99 on a 4.0 scale and ranks second in her graduating class. Emily is on the honor roll and a member of the National Honor Society and the school Latin Club. She has was named “Milwaukee Brewers Student Achiever” 2006 to 2008 and scored in the top ten percent on the National Physics Exam. In her community, Emily volunteers with the Big Sister Program and works as a meal server at St. Vincent, St. Ben’s, and the Hunger Task Force program. In sports, Emily competed on the varsity basketball team and currently holds third place on the all-time school list for three pointers. Emily is interested in a career in health sciences. Emily is the daughter of Elizabeth and John Callan of Wauwatosa, Wis.

Madeline Mc Lennon
Madeline Mc Lennon has a cumulative grade point average of 3.96 on a 4.0 scale and ranks fifth in her graduating class. She is a member of the National Honor Society and a National Merit Semi Finalist. Madeline was Class President from 2008-2009. She is a member of the Latin Club and was awarded Latin-Exam-Summa Cum Laude 2006, Magna Cum Laude 2007, Maxima Cum Laude 2008. In sports, she competed in both track and cross country for four years and was cross-country team captain in 2008. Her career interest is in government and journalism. Madeline is the daughter of Mary Ann and Mark Mc Lennon of Wauwatosa, Wis.


Dominican High School

William Bredeson
William Bredeson has a cumulative grade point average of 3.857 on a 4.00 grade point scale and ranks in the top ten percent of his graduating class. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Campus Ministry and Irish Culture Music Club. In his community, William volunteers at St. Robert Parish as a musician. In sports, he competed in cross-country and track and field. He speaks French and is originally from Canada. He plans to attend Carleton University. His career interests are in ethics, music, science and foreign policy. William is the son of Caroline and Christopher Bredeson of Milwaukee, Wis.

Sarah Burton
Sarah Burton has a cumulative grade point average of 3.92 on a 4.00 point scale. She ranks third in her graduating class. She a member of the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Investment Club, and was Class Secretary in 2007-2008 and Class President in 2008-2009. Sarah volunteers for various school service projects, fundraisers and YMCA Camp Minikani. In sports, she competes in varsity tennis and varsity soccer and is the team co-captain. Her career interest is in business and law. Sarah is the daughter of Lynn and Gary Burton of Milwaukee, Wis.


Eisenhower High School

Elizabeth Carahan
Elizabeth Carahan has a cumulative grade point average of 4.46 on a 4.0 scale and ranks first in her graduating class. She is Vice President of the National Honor Society at her school. A member of Eisenhower’s Student Union, New Berlin Youth Advisory Board President and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Elizabeth volunteers as a tutor for the National Honor Society. In team sports, she competed in Varsity Volleyball and was captain two years, she was also varsity captain for track and field and competed in basketball. Elizabeth plans to attend the University of Notre Dame. She is interested in a career in neurology. Elizabeth is the daughter Laurie and Patrick Carnahan of New Berlin, Wis.

Sean Heyrman
Sean Heyrman has a cumulative grade point average of 4.26 on a 4.0 scale and ranks third in his graduating class. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the recipient of the Gold Card Award and is on the High Honor Roll. Sean participated in the Senior Academic Decathlon, Student Union and Prom Committees. He is part of the New Berlin Athletic Association and attended the 2008 Badger Boys State. In sports, he competed in soccer and track and field. He is interested in a career in aerospace engineering. Sean is the son of Kathleen and Gene Heyrman of New Berlin, Wis.


Franklin High School

Eric Lewandowski
Eric Lewandowski has a cumulative grade point average of 3.95 on a 4.0 scale and ranks in the top five percent of his graduating class. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Athletics and Activities Council. Eric is a recipient of the Scholar Athlete Award and Milwaukee Brewers Academic Achievement Award. He participates in his school tutoring program and works as a swim instructor and lifeguard. He has been refereeing since he was 12 years old. In his community, Eric volunteered for Books for Soliders, Milwaukee Wave Games, and other community fundraisers. In sports, he competed in soccer, track, cross country and swimming. Eric plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is interested in a career as an aeronautical engineer. Eric is the son of Jerelyn and Gregory Lewandowski of Franklin, Wis.

Stephanie Mabrey
Stephanie Mabrey has a perfect grade point average of 4.0 and ranks first in her graduating class. Stephanie is the recipient of the Brewers Student Achiever Award and was chosen to receive one of seven Princeton Club of Wisconsin Book Awards. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Students Against Destructive Decisions, School Orchestra, Church Youth Group and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. In sports, Stephanie competed in JV and varsity tennis and was tennis team captain in her senior year. Stephanie received the Athletics Director’s Award. Stephanie is the daughter of Susan and Andrew Mabrey of Franklin, Wis.


Germantown High School

Michael Minsky
Michael Minsky has a cumulative grade point average of 3.83 on a 4.0 scale and ranks in the top ten percent of his graduating class. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Athlete Leadership Team and has been on honor roll four consecutive years. Michael has participated as a volunteer for Harvest for Hunger, St. Ben’s Meal Program, and Big Brothers Big Sisters and he helps with his church hospitality committee. In sports, Michael played two years varsity basketball and tennis qualifying for state in 2007-2008. He is a member of the Student Athlete Leadership Team and a referee in the Germantown High School Basketball Intramural Program. He plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is interested in a career in sports medicine and business. Michael is the son of Rita and Mark Minsky of Colgate, Wis.

Sarah Schueller
Sarah Schuller has a cumulative grade point average of 3.89 on a 4.0 scale and ranks in the top ten percent of her graduating class. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Debate 08 Team, Germantown Chamber Commerce Committee and is the Vice President of the Spanish Honor Society at her school. She volunteers for local community blood drives, senior citizen fundraisers and tutoring activities. Sarah competed in varsity soccer and varsity cross-country, earning team state qualifier. She is interested in a career in accounting. Sarah is the daughter of Rita and Thomas Schueller of Germantown, Wis.


Grafton High School

Rebecca Thorn
Rebecca Thorn has a cumulative grade point average of 3.96 on a 4.0 scale and ranks fourth in her graduating class. She has received the AP Scholar Honors Award and earned an Academic Letter of Excellence. Rebecca is a First Degree Black Belt in Ican-Do Karate and has earned the Girl Scouts Silver and Bronze Leadership Awards. She is an assistant Sunday school teacher at her church and volunteers at the Humane Society and St. Vincent DePaul. Rebecca is a member of the German Club and hosted two German Exchange Students. In sports, she competed in softball and swimming for four years and she was named Swim Team Captain her senior year. She was also the boy’s swim team manager in her junior and senior year. Her career interest is in secondary education. Rebecca is the daughter of Julie and Greg Thorn of Grafton, Wis.

Jared West
Jared West has a cumulative grade point average of 3.98 on a 4.0 scale and ranks third in his graduating class. He is a member of the National Honor Society. Jared is the Vice-President of Business Partnerships for his DECA Chapter and a member of the Math Hawks, Military History Book Club and Spanish Club. He has volunteered for the Special Olympics as a coach, Grafton Gives Scholarship Drive, and as a Salvation Army bell ringer. Jared is a member of his church youth group. In sports, Jared competed in football and track and was the team captain for both. Jared plans to attend University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is interested in a career in business and marketing. Jared is the son of Jane and Jerry West of Grafton, Wis.


Greendale High School

Nathan Clemente
Nathan Clemente has a perfect 4.0 grade point average and ranks first in his graduating class. He is a member of the National Honor Society. Nathan is the section leader of his school’s jazz band, marching band and pop band. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the school magazine and a member of the Chess Club, Symphonic Orchestra and is captain of the math club. He has volunteered at Discovery World and at the community free medical clinic. In sports, Nathan competed in volleyball for four years and was named Varsity Captain his senior year. His career interest is in engineering. His parents are Elsa and Paul Clemente of Greendale, Wis.

Heather Wichman
Heather Wichman has a cumulative grade point average of 3.93 on a 4.0 scale. She ranks in the top ten percent of her graduating class. She is a member of the National Honor Society. She was on the High Honor Roll for seven consecutive semesters earning her an Academic Excellence Award. In addition to her working part-time at a nursing home, Heather served over fifty hours both in the community and at her church. In sports, she competed in softball one year, swim team four years and was named captain of the swim team in her senior year. She plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and pursue a career as a physician’s assistant. Her parents are Magdalena and Anthony Wichman of Milwaukee, Wis.


Greenfield High School

Savannah Andryczak
Savannah Andryczak has a cumulative grade point average of 3.74 on a 5.0 scale and ranks in the top ten percent of her graduating class. She received High Honors for four consecutive years. Savannah is a member of the German National Honor Society and serves as Treasurer and Vice President. In sports she competed in both Varsity Track and Varsity Cheerleading for four years. Savannah plans to continue her studies at University of Minnesota and pursue a career in nursing. Savannah is the daughter of Develan Andryczak of Greenfield, Wis.

Mariano Suaso-Rodriquez
Mariano Suaso-Rodriquez has a cumulative grade point average 3.58 on a 5.0 scale and ranks in the top ten percent of his graduating class. He is a High Honor student, a member of the National Honor Society and was named the Greenfield Chamber of Commerce Student of the Year for 2008. Mariano is a member of the Chess Club, Math Club, and has participated in the Holiday Sharing program. In sports, Mariano competed and was awarded All- Conference in track and field his junior year and he competed in soccer four years. Mariano plans to attend Milwaukee School of Engineering and pursue a career as a mechanical engineer. His parents are Angela and Mariano of Greenfield, Wis.


Hamilton High School

Anthony Anderson

He is the class president and a member of student council, DECA and Link. He was the prom and homecoming king. Monica Meyer has a perfect cumulative grade point average of 4.0 on a 4.0 scale and is ranked first in her graduating class. Tara Finch
Tara Finch has a cumulative grade point average of 4.05 on a 4.0 scale. At her school, she has received the Headmaster Award and the Laker Award. She is the president of Student Government and a member of the United Methodist Convention Design Team. She is a girl scout and volunteers as a student tutor. In sports, Tara competed in varsity field hockey and was named All-State Second Team for the last three years. Tara is interested in a career in biology and plans to attend Wake Forest University. She is the daughter of Edwina and Mark Finch of Oconomowoc, Wis.

Tor Hagemann has a cumulative grade point average of 4.29 on a 4.0 scale. He has been awarded the Rensselaer Medal for Excellence, Daniel F. Moran Scholarship for Excellence Award, Trieber Memorial Award and is a Commended National Merit Scholar. Tor participates in student government and is the office secretary. Christine Edmonds
Christine Edmonds has a cumulative grade point average of 4.3 on a 4.0 scale.
She is a National Merit Finalist and received the Global Scholar with Distinction and the Milwaukee Brewers Student Achievement Award. She is a member of the Cum Laude Society and has been an honor roll student every semester. Christine participates in the concert choir, swing choir and is a solo concert pianist and accompanist. Christine volunteered for six weeks with refugees in South Africa in 2008, at a daycare in Quechan Indian village in Ecuador in 2007 and at a Belgian farm for handicapped children in 2006. In her community, she volunteers at local food banks and at local primary schools. In sports, Christine competed in varsity soccer, track and volleyball. She is fluent in French and Spanish and is interested in a career in international business or engineering. Christine is the daughter of Bridget and Robert Edmonds of River Hills, Wis.

Sam Krieg
Sam Krieg has a cumulative grade point average of 4.1 on a 4.0 scale. He is a National Merit Commended Scholar and has received the Milwaukee Brewers Student Achievement Award. He is a member of the Cum Laude Society, Latin Honor Society and has been an honor roll student every semester. In the community, Sam coaches sports at the Schroeder YMCA and was a fifth grade assistant coach for basketball in 2006-2007. He also coached at the youth lacrosse camp during 2007. Jason Bureta

Jason participates in student council and is a junior board member. He has volunteered every summer with Team Up For Fun, a camp for children with special needs. He also volunteered as a counselor at Camp Whitcomb. In his community, he volunteers at the local food pantry and helps the elderly with yard work. In sports, Jason competed in wrestling and was voted most improved and team captain during his senior year. He also competed in football and in cross country. Emily Francione
Emily Francione has a cumulative grade point average of 4.33 on a 4.0 scale and is ranked second in her graduating class. She is the secretary of the National Honor Society at her school, on the high honor roll and a Scholar Athlete from 2005-2009. Emily was the class treasurer from 2007-2009. She is a member of the Interact club, student council, prom committee, senior board graduation committee and her school marching band. Emily was a State semi-finalist 2005 in AAAA competition and was awarded the Caption Award: Pit/Percussion in 2006. Emily participated in the Rose Bowl Parade in 2007. Ashley Plinska
Ashley Plinska has a cumulative grade point average of 3.90 on a 4.0 scale and is ranked in the top ten percent of her graduating class. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Wisconsin State Music Association and a candidate for Badger Girls State. In school, Ashley participates with the freshmen mentoring program and is on the prom committee. In her community, she volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, and at the Waukesha Civic Theater.

Matthew Dugan
Matthew Dugan has a cumulative grade point average of 4.02 on a 4.0 scale is ranked in the top ten percent of his graduating class. Matthew is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and at church he participated in the Ascension Lutheran Mime Program. He also volunteered with the Friends of Lapham Park. In sports, Matthew was a three time State qualifier in cross-country, First Place Class Eight in 2008 and captain of the team. He also competed in track and was 3200m State qualifier in 2008. Matthew competed in cross country skiing placing second in state 2008 -2009, qualified for ski nationals in 2009 and was named team captain. Chantal Cyr
Chantal Cyr has a cumulative grade point average of 3.9 on a 4.0 scale and is ranked in the top ten percent of her graduating class. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the French Honor Society. Chantal participates in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Youth Band and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society and is a National Merit Scholar Semi-Finalist. In school, he competed in the Mu Alpha Theta math competition. Gregory has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Youth Outreach, Relay for Life, Salvation Army and many other volunteer organizations. He is a member of the German Club and is PADI scuba certified. Kellie Tutkowski has a cumulative grade point average of 4.51 on a 5.0 scale and is ranked first in her graduating class. She is a member of the National Honor Society and High Honor Roll. At school Kellie is a member of the stage crew, AFS club and she has participated in the science seminar. Kellie volunteered at St. Ben’s Meal Program, Arthritis Foundation Run, MU Alpha Theta, and with the St. Mary’s Youth Group. Alysse Haferman

She is a member of the National Honor Society and has been an honor roll student throughout high school. She is a member of the school band and math track team. Alysse volunteers as a student tutor and assistant basketball coach at a grade school. She is a member of her church youth group and volunteers in the church nursery. Alysse performs in the handbell choir at St. John’s Lutheran Church. In the summer she volunteers at Brookfield Public Library. In sports, Alysse competed in volleyball and softball. Daniel Hustad
Daniel Hustad has a perfect 4.0 on a 4.0 scale and is ranked first in his graduating class. He is a member of the National Honor Society and was awarded the Milwaukee Brewers Student Achiever Award four consecutive years. In school, he is a member of the jazz band, sax choir, pep band and is captain of the varsity math track team. Daniel has traveled to Germany and studied both Latin and German. In the community, he volunteered at the VA Medical Center, Salvation Army and at the National Wheelchair Games. He tutors special education, foreign language, math and helps in the school extended learning center. Daniel competed in varsity tennis and was first Single Player and second Team All Conference and earned the most points for the season. He also competed in soccer for two years.
